After comedian Sarah Silverman mistaked a couple construction signs for swastikas left by neo-Nazis, several of her social media followers criticized her.
According to 46-year-old comedian, she saw the markings on the sidewalk while on her way to grab some coffee.
“Walking to get coffee saw these all over a sidewalk in the town I’m in. Is this an attempt at swastikas? Do neo nazis not have google?” she wrote.
Many of her followers quickly pointed out that those were not swastikas but in fact markings used in construction to show warn that there is a pipe or wire underneath. Others, of course, ridiculed Silverman for trying to relate innocent, everyday situation to a conspiracy by extremists.
Once the comedian realized her mistake she left several tweets to explain how she has been seeing swastikas “in everything” due to America’s new political environment.
Silverman originally supported Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in the primaries but threw her support to Democrat Hillary Clinton for the presidential election, criticizing Trump every chance she got. She even suggested a military coup earlier this month.
