Hours after a massive blasts ripped apart a subway train in St. Petersburg, Russia, authorities have released images of the suspect who is still at large. Many people are surprised to see who it is along with what else has now been revealed about this attacker who has now claimed the lives of 10 people and injured 39 others.
Saint Petersburg is rightfully on edge as the man who appears in surveillance footage is still roaming the city and considered armed and dangerous. Until he’s caught, he could attack again at any time, as it’s unknown if he’s carrying more “briefcase” bombs filled with shrapnel, like the one he detonated in a subway car Monday afternoon before getting away.
“Initial reports suggested there had been two explosions, but it was later confirmed that there was a single blast on one train between two stations,” The Telegraph reported. “The homemade device was thought to be equivalent to 200 grams of TNT and was placed on the carriage.”
It’s clear that this killer is Muslim by looking at him and attacked based on his Islamic beliefs. While this was easy to assume before his identity was released, given the nature of the attack, many are still surprised to learn that this would take place in a country that didn’t accept droves of refugees, like their European neighbors. It goes to show that anyone can be “radicalized” and the clear and present danger is already lurking inside every country and needs to be eradicated.
